Saturday!
I’m really excited to do a double shift today, and the icing on the cake- the sun has returned! Daniel is going to busk in between my two sets so we can make the most of this bustling area before we move on: tomorrow will be our last day on Amelia Island, which I’m sad about, but we have learned that it’s not wise to stay in any area too long, as it seems to attract unwanted attention from authorities.
We received a message from Tiny Home Tours that our tour will be up on Facebook soon, so we are eagerly anticipating that!
We drive to the dump before heading to historic Amelia Island, and I have a cup of tea before walking to my spot- where there are already buskers! I walk a bit further and pitch up elsewhere, and it goes really well!
The streets are busy and all the shop fronts are being painted by local artists, which is really cool!
I passed a small cruise ship on my way in, no doubt adding to the hustle and bustle.

On my way back, I take some photographs of interesting local landmarks, including Florida’s oldest bar, complete with pirate!

Back at the Hoose, Daniel and I switch out, and I grab a bite to eat then take the kids out to soak up the atmosphere and sunshine, and film a wee video of Daniel busking.

On the way back Grace gets creative and asks me to photograph her as she models for some unique shots.

I make us all dinner when Daniel returns and ask Grace to take some shots of the beautiful sunset- she doesn’t disappoint!- and then I go back out for the evening shift.

It’s still pretty busy and I have a lot of fun, but I break a string after about an hour. I was running late and didn’t put spares in my case but I push on anyway, and then my energy starts to lag. I’m thinking of packing up for the night when a big group on Nam Knights (bikers) walk past and give me some encouragement, wishing me a great night, so I push on some more!

Finally, it feels like time to go so I walk back to the Hoose. It’s a short walk but very dark! Daniel has everything packed up and ready to go, so we leave straight away and drive to our spot for the night.
It was a hugely successful day and I made a contact at a local bar too, which will be great if we decide to plan a tour in the spring, an idea we have recently been discussing. I am a bit hoarse and came home with an unfortunate blister on my toe because my jingles kept slipping tonight, but I am already excited for tomorrow, and sad that it will be our last day here: Fernandina has made its way into my heart.
