It is raining hard this morning, and will continue all day according to the forecast
I take the kids into Walmart to get groceries for the next few days and some craft supplies. We always put our Christmas tree up on December 1st, which is also Daniel’s birthday, and I had planned to make decorations this week with the kids so they are ready to trim the tree on Friday, but the rain got us started a day early! We take our time walking around and they help me choose paints, googly eyes, pom poms, pipe cleaners and colored paper.
At the checkout, an employee approaches me as I’m feeding dollar bills into the slot, and informs me that this is the ‘members only’ checkout (never heard of it) and that it also should not be accepting cash. I am not allowed to use these checkouts (even though there are free check outs everywhere), as they are one of the perks of paying $98 a year to Walmart to become a member. ‘Ok’ I reply. She continues watching me for a bit then goes about her business.
I am not very amused by this kind of discrimination. I work hard to spend my money in their shop, and now I have become a second-class shopper because I don’t pay for a membership. Thanks Walmart.
We return to the Hoose, getting soaked on the way, and the kids spend the ENTIRE day doing crafts.
I’m pleasantly surprised at how much they enjoy it. We make snowflakes and paper chains to decorate for Christmas, and they paint so many pictures!
In between crafts, we eat a hearty lunch and dinner, and put Elf on TV to get us into the Christmas spirit. When the sun sets, we drive to a Cracker Barrel in St. Augustine, where I will be busking tomorrow- weather permitting of course!
